I love a good serial killer story right along with the next guy. I mean, I was all over BTK about a year before they captured him...reading the message boards, working on the clues, throwing my hat in the ring to hypothesize and guess what would happen next. I just love that kind of stuff.
I tried dabbling into the Zodiac case but it was extremely complex...and BTK suddenly got captured and I was all over that for a while.
This weekend, Anth and I went to see Zodiac before the Purim party. Three words: Long But Good.
This film was done in kind of a "All the President's Men" style that I liked a lot...call me a retro-freak. At first I wasn't so sure about Jake Gyllenhaal as Bob Graysmith but as the film went along...he was excellent.
I won't bore you with the stuff you can read in all the other reviews...like the violence was well done and not gratuitous, or that there were parts that were truly so creepy they scared the crap out of me. It wasn't a horror movie...gore for the sake of just shocking and disgusting you...it was really a deep and complex mystery and well, well done.
I give it four out of four Matzot...go see it! Long....we went to the 4pm showing and didn't leave until 7pm so be advised. And no kids. Some people brought their kids...like 12 year old kids...and I just don't think that it was appropriate. Especially the stabbing scene. That was especially disturbing.
Let me know what you thought!!!!
